Segovia

The Alcazar:  In the middle ages this was a fortified palace for the monarchs of Castile.  Later it was a prison for 200 years, and then since 1862 it has been a museum.
When Rome ruled from the castle (now the Alcazar), they built a 9 mile aqueduct about 2,000 years ago, and it was used until the
18th century.  This remaining section is
2,500 feet long and 100 feet high.

The Muslims occupied much of Spain for 700 years.  Below shows their craft in making patterns in the plaster.

The Cathedral was built from 1525-1768.  Think of poor town folk contributing and building for over 200 years.

Now, time to tour the Alcazar and climb the tower!
